Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual awareness day on May 28 to highlight and share the key importance of good and decent menstrual hygiene management.

Every year people come together to hold community events to raise awareness of good menstrual hygiene management and the impact it can have on girls’ lives.

But do we know why its particularly celebrated on May 28th? If you don't then it time for your the know it.

In the year 2012, Many important groups communities and organizations gathered in to break the silence on menstrual hygiene management and turn their attention to the issue globally.

In May 2013, WASH United used a 28-day social media campaign, to generate awareness about menstruation and menstrual hygiene management.

Those who were involved with the social media campaign, WASH Advocates, Girls' Globe, and Ruby Cup, decided to create a global awareness day for menstruation.

On 28 May 2014, German-based NGO WASH United along with 145 partners with the help of the public initiated & celebrated the first Menstrual Hygiene Day.
